We
are Francesca & Anson and our Italian
Restaurant (Trattoria) is located on the High Street of
Lyndhurst in the Heart of the
New Forest.
In Italy
a typical trattoria is a style of restaurant, only less
formal. During the Romans time, people travelling for
an official
mission, were given a document, called “littera tractoria”.
They needed to show this document in order to receive
food from the specific dispatchers that ended up being
called
Trattorie.
Nowadays, Trattorie are generally family run restaurants, where the atmosphere
is friendly and casual, and people expect to find good traditional food.
We offer authentic Italian cooking, in particular from Emilia
Romagna (a northern Italian region), using the best and freshest ingredients.
We’ll
use the best Italian cheeses, cured meats and wines and extremely high
quality olive oils that can't currently be found anywhere else in the
UK, but shop
locally for the best quality seasonal (organic when possible) ingredients.

The
typical Italian meal is divided into four courses:
Antipasti / Appetizers
Primi Piatti / Pasta course
Secondi piatti / meat or fish course
Contorni / side dishes
Dolci / Desserts
..and yes, Italians would normally eat a four courses meal!!

Our
pasta is freshly hand made (we actually make it ourselves!),
like the
bread, the desserts and everything else on our menu.
Our menu is delicious but simple to ensure our service is efficient and
our food is fresh. Each dish is individually prepared, the way you will
expect it to be in Italy (not in the usual Italian restaurant abroad!).
Our wine is specially selected to bring a variety of excellent Italian wines
that best accompanies our food.
Corporate and private events can be booked which we are happy to discuss with
you.
Literally Fra Noi means among us. It also means “between us”, implying
complicity, solidarity. It’s about sharing a dream, an experience, and
doing something with the help and support of your dearest friends and family.
